Quality Choices for Early Childhood Education and Child Care in Union Parish

Louisiana Schools are ready to help ALL children ages 3-21 learn!

Every child is unique!

Every child is different. Differences are wonderful, but some can cause problems in learning. We find children who have

  • Vision/hearing problems
  • Chronic illness
  • Delays in development
  • Speech/language delays
  • Academic problems

We have programs that may help!

We also find children who

  • Have have high intellectual and/or academic abilities
  • Exhibit exceptional ability in art, music, and/or theater

Children with development delays and/or disabilites, ages birth through five, are served in Louisiana through the Individuals with Disabilites Education Act (IDEA) programs and services. IDEA Part C, Early Steps, serves children birth to the 3rd birthday, and IDEA Part B Preschool Programs serve children ages three through five.

Interagency collaboration among agencies that deliver services is essential to ensure a smooth and effective transition as mandated by IDEA, 2004.
